What made you want to start your business?

Nuvis is a Landscape Architecture and Planning professional services corporation, started in April 1971

What sort of training did you have before going into business?

The 4 owners/stockholders all have Bachelor of Science degrees in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona.

Who is your ideal customer?

Our customer base is primarily private developers, governmental agencies, and profession design alliances.

What do you consider your biggest weakness and/or area of opportunity?

Our biggest challenge has been the 5 recessions that Nuvis has successfully managed for survival. The biggest opportunity is staying informed in potential markets and staying actively diversified.

Do you own your business or is it a franchise?

Nuvis is a privately held corporation, established in 1970.

What advice do you have for someone who is considering starting a business in your industry?

Have a solid business plan and strategy for all aspects of finance before launching your services.

What have you achieved in business that makes you the most proud?

Our team of individuals, past and present, who engage in the practice and continue to move Nuvis into the future
